Couples Retreat is more than a date-night destination
The relationship comedy directed by Peter Billingsley and written by Jon Favreau, Vince Vaughn and Dana Fox took top spot at the box office this weekend. Many critics are panning its plot (Rotten Tomatoes gives it only a 5.7/10) but there’s no question that its lush tropical setting is proving to be a major draw for date-night moviegoers.
No wonder. Filmed on Bora Bora and Tahiti in French Polynesia, the movie starring Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau, Malin Akerman, Kristin Davis, Kristen Bell and Faizon Love who embark on a group-rate holiday to a tropical destination and get an experience that is much different than what they expected, was actually filmed at the St. Regis Bora Bora Resort.
The lush resort, a favorite celebrity getaway since it opened in 2006 - Nicole Kidman and Keith honeymooned there while Eva Longoria and Tony Parker and others have enjoyed its tropical splendors - is offering an exclusive Couples Retreat package celebrating the film’s opening and continuing through May 31, 2010. Stay in the villa where the stars stayed and enjoy experiences from the film such as yoga on the beach, outrigger canoe lessons and couples massages at the Miri Miri spa - located on its own private island.
